Completely healthy skin or hair does not need repair or treatment! Therefore, whenever a product or substance is introduce or recommended to you it is a sign or a nice way of telling you that your skin or hair is damaged. In my experience, the primary culprits of hair damage are relaxer cream, perm creams, hair dyes and ultra violet rays. The primary culprits for skin damage are excessive exposure to soap or detergent, sun light, high alkaline / high acidic products, poor nutrition. We must battle daily for healthy skin and hair against the negative effects of disease, aging and the environment.

Truth in advertising is hard to find sometimes. Beauty professionals and clients must exercise caution when reading labels, doubt extravagant claims, and ask for evidence. Imported beauty products are flooding into the Ghana markets. New domestic products are increasing. However, Ghana lacks strong labeling regulations to protect consumers from harmful products and false claims. We must remain vigilant and press for better labeling guidelines and product testing.
